Who S&J is
S&J International Enterprises has made cosmetics in Thailand since 1980 and is listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, with an AAA SET ESG rating. It runs about 17,000 m² of production near Bangkok and works with partners in more than 50 countries.
What it is like to start a brand here
S&J covers the whole chain — formulating, packaging, manufacturing and distribution. It is aimed at established and export brands rather than micro-batches, and we found no halal certification on its website.
US FDA warning letter
In January 2024 the US FDA issued S&J warning letter 320-24-17 after inspecting its drug manufacturing plant at Si Racha in July 2023. The letter cites the quality unit, batch records that could be erased, and delayed access to records. The plant has been on FDA Import Alert 66-40 since 23 January 2024, which means products from it can be detained at the US border. This mainly affects OTC products such as sunscreen sold in the US, but it is a serious quality finding, and our rules exclude factories with recent findings like this from our rankings.
