Who Coscolab is
Coscolab is one of Malaysia’s longer-established contract cosmetic manufacturers, registered in 2000 and owned by FCW Holdings, a company listed on Bursa Malaysia. Its main plant is in the Taming Jaya industrial estate in Seri Kembangan, with a second licensed plant at Selesa Jaya.
What it is like to start a brand here
Coscolab works with fewer but larger brands than most factories in this list: 24 skincare client brands on NPRA, with a high share of multinational, pharmacy and clinic clients. It does not publish an MOQ, so expect a more formal quotation process than at start-up-focused factories.
Halal strength
This is Coscolab’s standout: 110 of the 129 skincare products it makes for clients are listed in the JAKIM directory — 85%, the highest share in our data. For a halal-positioned brand, that means the factory is used to running halal documentation as standard.
What the registry shows
On NPRA, Coscolab is named as manufacturer on 129 skincare products for 24 client brands. The client list is concentrated — the three largest brands account for about 65% of that skincare — and a similar share comes from multinational, pharmacy, clinic or large-retail clients. In practice, Coscolab is used to audits, specifications and long-term supply contracts rather than quick test batches.
Its main plant at Taming Jaya measures about 2,870 m² of roof on satellite imagery and is owned freehold, according to the parent company’s annual report. A second licensed plant at Selesa Jaya adds capacity.
The parent company
FCW Holdings has been listed on Bursa Malaysia since 1972, so its accounts are public. They show revenue falling three years running and a small loss in the latest year. Exports were 4–6% of revenue. None of this is a red flag for a client, but it explains why Coscolab focuses on dependable, larger accounts.
Questions to ask before you sign
- Do you take first orders below your usual MOQ for halal skincare?
- Can my products be listed under your JAKIM certificate, or do I need my own?
- Which plant — Taming Jaya or Selesa Jaya — would make my product?
- What lead time do you quote for a reformulated base vs a new formula?
Our verdict
A solid, conservative choice for halal skincare, especially if you value a manufacturer whose parent publishes audited accounts. Less suited to founders who need published small-batch terms.
